Astro-Therapy: The Flower Moon & the Finger of God...

The Flower Moon is the Full Moon of May, named for the spring flowers that bloom during this month. Native American Algonquin tribes, along with other cultures, recognized this time for planting and rapid growth — and no wonder, for this coincides with the Scorpio Full Moon.
Scorpio represents sex and offspring — and flowers are the reproductive system of the plant. For Valentine's Day we give and receive flowers as an expression of erotic love. It's no coincidence.
Scorpio rules the gonads for reproduction, the channels of elimination, and all things taboo. Scorpio is "where the sun don't shine." It rules the 8th house of death, rebirth and transformation, where the themes of Eros — sex — and Thanatos — death — arise together like the Yin and Yang of the Tao, in the eternal circle of life.
The New Moon in Scorpio in the midst of fall ushers in decay. The Full Moon in Scorpio in the midst of spring ushers in rebirth. Two sides of the same sacred cycle.
The moon is at fall in Scorpio, as the moon represents our mood, and Scorpio is intense. So the intensity can be uncomfortable, yet necessary.
Scorpio is the Phoenix of the zodiac — rising from its own ashes. Everyone wants the rebirth. Nobody wants the death that precedes it. Yet a new life will cost the old one.
Seeing in the Dark
Scorpio rules the hidden. Scorpio is the creature that sees in the dark — which means that in order to change, we have to see the skeleton in the closet. The jealousy, the control, the betrayal — the things we'd rather not examine. Scorpio insists we shed light on all of it.
Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto. Mars is the lord of action, sex and war — the energy that penetrates with the phallus to create life, or the bullet to take it. Pluto is the therapist of the zodiac, delving into the realms of the unconscious in search of hidden treasures. Pluto is also the planet of demolition — tearing down before rebuilding. Small but mighty. Quiet but explosive.
Mars makes no aspect to this Full Moon, but is in rulership in Aries and with a stellium of 5 planet still pushing forward, along with Mercury, the messenger, conjucnt Chiron, the wounded healer, where words can heal or kill... The option is yours!
Pluto is in Aquarius — and the moon is at 11 degrees Scorpio, an Aquarius degree, both Aquarius and Scorpio are the rebles of the zodiac. So Pluto is in a challenging square pushing us toward the transformation necessary for growth. And Pluto is stationing retrograde, for which we'll re-examine our purpose, our power and our contribution to the collective. Something has to give, so something greater can emerge.
As we move through this period, part of us is dying and another part is being born. Depending on your chart, this will manifest differently — but we can all feel it.
The Finger of God
This Full Moon forms a Yod — the Finger of God — making two inconjunctions (odd aspects) to Venus and Saturn.
Venus, the lesser benefic and goddess of love, harmony and value, represents what we love, what we enjoy, what brings us pleasure and beauty. Saturn — Kronos, the great teacher, lord of time and karma — is the alarm clock that wakes you up and sends you to work. He sets the deadlines, demands the dues, and builds the foundation so you don't construct castles in the air. Saturn is brick and mortar, matter and structure. And though misunderstood, Saturn is ultimately the planet of manifestation.
So how do we reconcile these two energies?
Venus + Saturn = marriage. Venus is love. Saturn is law. And when we do what we love, we enter into a perfect marriage with our vocation.
Some say if you do what you love you'll never work a day in your life. But I'd say the opposite is true — if you do what you love, you work harder than everyone else, because you want to show the world that which you love. The old debate of "work to live" versus "live to work" doesn't speak of passion or mission.
And yet — it's easier said than done. Making a living from your vocation is a steep road. That's where Saturn steps in and asks for commitment. Even if it means taking odd jobs to pay the bills while you learn, grow and build what you love. Been there. Done that.
The Light at the End
But this Full Moon is not without support. It forms a trine to the North Node — our guiding star — in Pisces, the sign of spirituality and transcendence. And another trine to Jupiter, the great benefic, exalted in Cancer, the sign that feels like home.
So ultimately, this Scorpio Full Moon is asking you to dig deep into your soul. To strip away everything inauthentic that you gathered along the way — the conformity, the compromise, the performance. And to reconnect with what you love. Because what you love is your compass. It aligns you to your mission. And your mission is your soul's purpose here on earth
