This Aries New Moon is not alone. It's part of a stellium of 7 planets in the same sign — and all planets direct. This is not common astrology. This is an intensification of all things Aries, with every ounce of energy pushing forward.

Aries is the yang cardinal fire sign that opens the astrological year at the spring equinox. Represented by the ram, its symbol doubles from the ram's horns to the sprout of springtime — the spark of new life breaking through.

Aries is ruled by Mars, the cosmic warrior and god of action, spreading the seeds of new beginnings. And here, Mars is in rulership — empowered in its own sign.

New moons are the seeds of intention, planting beginnings that manifest over the next six months. So this is a double whammy of new energy: the fuel and the fire. We can feel it in the blood — which Aries rules — along with the head, both physically and energetically, triggering tension headaches. It also rules the adrenals, so we tend to burn the candle at both ends.

How to best utilize this energy?

The New Moon falls at 27 degrees — which means it's a New Moon in Aries in both the tropical and Vedic/sidereal systems. A triple whammy. But at the later degrees, the energy isn't entirely new. This may be the final push at something that was "green" before — an idea or intention that has now matured enough to manifest in real life.

Chiron: The Wound That Opens the Door

The New Moon is conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer, which tints this beginning with the insecurities of past failed attempts and self-limiting beliefs. Chiron presents as the challenge to overcome — the thing you have to get over if you're to move forward.

The New Moon is ruled by Mars, the planet of action, which sits at the midpoint of Mercury and Saturn. Mercury in Aries thinks out loud — no filter. Saturn, the cosmic stop sign — Kronos, lord of time and karma — warns us about the consequences of what we do and what we say.

Mars-Saturn conjunctions are known for exactly this tension: one foot on the gas, one on the brakes. We want to speed, but we encounter limitation, restriction. Saturn has been called the great malefic and Mars the lesser malefic — but as I always say, those terms simply describe the ease or difficulty in working with those energies. All planets contain the full spectrum from the good, the bad and the ugly. It's up to us to harness their highest vibrations and offset their lowest manifestations.

In Chinese medicine, fire is classified in two ways:

Supplemental fire warms. Absolute fire burns.

This overall energy is absolute fire. But Saturn — which I call the great teacher, because it's in charge of life's hardest lessons — is at fall in Aries. Quite frustrated, because Saturn rules control and Aries is out of control. Yet here he comes to temper the fire — to make sure it warms, but doesn't burn the bridge.

The Vision Meets the Structure

Recently, Mars conjuncted Neptune, the planet of dissolution, softening the absolute fire with its moist nature. We may have experienced confusion or uncertainty about our direction — or on a higher note, received the vision that gives Mars a destination to aim for. Now Saturn provides the structure and discipline to shape that vision into a framework, building it over a foundation so it doesn't remain a castle in the air.

Saturn doesn't want you to give up your dreams. It wants to make them real. And what is real is not always ideal, and what is ideal is not always real. So this energy carries a built-in disillusionment — not to derail you from your passion, but to test it. To check how committed you truly are, so what you build can withstand the test of time.

The Eternal Flame

The asteroid Vesta — representing that which you invest yourself in — sits at the midpoint of the North Node and Pallas Athena, the asteroid of strategy, all in Pisces. Pisces encompasses the full spectrum from sacrifice to the divine. The question being asked is: what are you sacrificing for your mission?

Pluto, the planet of death, rebirth and transformation, forms a supportive sextile with the triple conjunction of Mars, Mercury and Saturn — assisting the deep transformation necessary to manifest your dreams. Pluto is helping you become the Magician you're required to be to make your magic happen. But together they form a Yod — the Finger of God — pointing to the South Node of past, loss and karma. A reminder: learn from your mistakes. Don't repeat them.

Jupiter: Grow, But Don't Drop the Ball

Jupiter in Cancer — exalted and abundant — squares the midpoint between the New Moon and Saturn, challenging us to grow in a way that is sustainable. Most ventures fail not because they lack vision, but because they grow beyond their capacity to handle that growth. Slow and steady beats fast and furious every single time.

Jupiter also forms a supportive sextile with Venus — the planet of love, harmony and abundance, which is conjunct Uranus (by orb), the planet of surprises, in Taurus, the sign of production and values. Financial matters are favored. And for some — love too... Just remember not to jump the gun!
