TELE-MEDICINE & VIRTUAL SESSIONS
Electronic counseling is the method of connecting certified mental health professionals and patients via phone or the Internet for the therapeutic sessions to take place even at a distance. With millions of people all around the world in need of therapy, it was only a matter of time before advances in video conferencing and chat technologies disrupted the industry, offering modern-day versions of counseling services that are more convenient and affordable.
Since its inception in 2012, some have questioned its effectiveness as the element of presence, is paradoxically absent. However, researchers over the last several years, have proven E-counseling to be an effective therapeutic option. People suffering from stress, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, etc. have received treatment via e-counseling, with millions of people starting to experience happier, healthier lives.
Today's chronic disease epidemic is reaching staggering heights, but over 85 % are driven by our behavior and environment, not our genes. We have the power to prevent or reverse chronic illness just by adopting healthier habits.
Yet change is anything but easy. It takes drive, motivation, and strategy to change our habits, especially if we’ve been doing things in a certain way for long periods of time. But mostly, it takes support, and that’s where health coaches make a difference.
Health coaching is based on evidence-based clinical interventions to facilitate behavioral change. A transtheoretical model of behavioral psychology, patient education, goal setting, outcome metrics, and prevention through a healthy lifestyle: mindfulness, nutraceuticals, nutrition, and exercise routines.
The CDC defines wellness as "the degree to which one feels positive and enthusiastic about life". Wellness coaching is a process that facilitates healthy, sustainable change by challenging a client to develop their inner wisdom to identify their values and transform their goals into action.
If we have to translate the meaning of the word, it would best be Rei (soul) & Ki (energy) or vital energy/ life force.
Reiki consist of hand imposition, touching or not, for this very same reason, Reiki can be done at a distance, with the subject laying as if he were in a session, and the practitioner visualizing the subject as to gather impressions and projecting healing energy onto the subject and directing it with the intention. The energy has an intelligence of its own, as it flows, it tends to gravitate towards were's most needed. Like pouring water on an uneven surface, it will level the field regardless of there it's poured. Some people are more sensitive than others, being Reiki a subtle technique, some feel some sensations, while others not. Even the same person would have different experiences depending on his biorhythm.
There's never been a comprehensive list of controlled, evidence-based Reiki research that was accessible to the holistic, medical, and scientific communities, until 2005, when William Lee Rand founded the International Center for Reiki Training and the Center For Reiki Research: The Touchstone Process. He established a peer review method for analyzing the current state of scientific studies done on Reiki programs in hospitals, clinics, and hospice facilities throughout the United States. The process is rigorous, impartial, consistent, and incorporates the best practices for scientific review.
The most recent data analyzed during 2008-9, shows strong evidence that Reiki is indeed responsible for a positive biological response in both humans and animals. “Sham” or bogus Reiki treatments given to the placebo group showed no reduction in stress, anxiety or depression. Testing in humans performed between 1993 and 2006, showed Reiki treatments were positive in controlling pain levels, while the placebo Reiki treatments in this experiment were by contrast ineffective.
